The life and times of W. H. “Dad” Martin as a photographer, world’s champion creator and publisher of exaggeration photo postcards, highway sign manufacturer, and philanthropist in Ottawa, Kansas. Martin from 1908-1910 created over 60 exaggerated photographic images showing farming, fishing and hunting in Franklin County, Kansas. He produced, through his Martin Post Card Company, more that 8 million real photo postcards in Ottawa, Kansas. The program will feature a variety of photographs, Ottawa postcards, exaggerated postcards and historical information about W. H. “Dad” Martin and his amazing career.
Morgan Williams was born and grew up in Ottawa, Kansas. He is a graduate of Ottawa High School, Ottawa University and Kansas University. Williams has spent the last 60 years working in the area of economic development in the U.S. and worldwide. He is presently the President/CEO of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council in Washington, D.C. Williams is a member of the Ottawa High School Wall of Honor and received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Ottawa University. Williams started collecting exaggeration postcards by “Dad” Martin in the mid-1970’s. He is the co-author of the book, “Larger Than Life, The American Tall-Tale Postcard” which features man Martin postcards.
